Description

VP Racing Q16 REG is a leaded, highly oxygenated race fuel formulated for high-output drag racing combinations. It is primarily used in intercooled, forced-induction drag race applications and is also a proven option for naturally aspirated drag racing, truck pull, and jet-limited nitrous combinations where fuel rules do not require another specification.

Q16 REG contains 9.41% oxygen and requires approximately 4% to 6% more fuel flow than a non-oxygenated race fuel. When the engine is calibrated correctly, VP states Q16 REG can deliver 3% to 5% more power than competitive 116-octane fuels.

The increased fuel flow can also raise Q16 REG's effective detonation protection by an estimated 6 to 8 octane numbers above its standard ASTM octane rating, helping support demanding boosted and nitrous applications. Q16 REG has a 116 MON, greater than 120 RON, and greater than 118 (R+M)/2 octane rating.

Q16 REG is yellow, leaded, and contains MTBE. It is available in 5-gallon pails and 54-gallon drums. Because it is highly oxygenated, proper fuel-system capacity and professional tuning are essential before use. Q16 REG is not currently available in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or New York due to state regulations.

Frequently asked questions

What is VP Q16 REG Race Fuel?

VP Q16 REG is a leaded, highly oxygenated race fuel developed primarily for intercooled, forced-induction drag racing applications. It is also used in naturally aspirated drag racing, truck pull, and jet-limited nitrous combinations where permitted.

How much power can Q16 REG add?

VP states that Q16 REG can deliver 3% to 5% more power than competitive 116-octane fuels when the engine is properly calibrated. Actual results depend on the engine combination, turbocharger or supercharger setup, intercooling, fuel-system capacity, ignition timing, and tuning.

Is Q16 REG oxygenated?

Yes. Q16 REG contains 9.41% oxygen. Its high oxygen content supports substantial power potential, but it requires a fuel-system and calibration strategy designed for an oxygenated fuel.

How much more fuel flow does Q16 REG require?

VP states Q16 REG requires approximately 4% to 6% more fuel flow. A qualified tuner should verify injector capacity, fuel-pump capacity, carburetor jetting, and air-fuel ratio targets before switching fuels.

What engines is Q16 REG designed for?

Q16 REG is primarily designed for intercooled forced-induction drag race engines. It is also suitable for certain naturally aspirated drag racing, truck pull, and jet-limited nitrous applications that do not have restrictive fuel rules.

Can Q16 REG help with detonation protection?

VP states that the increased fuel flow required by Q16 REG can raise its effective detonation protection by an estimated 6 to 8 octane numbers beyond its standard ASTM octane rating. Proper tuning and adequate fuel-system capacity are still essential.

What is the octane rating of VP Q16 REG?

Q16 REG has a 116 MON, greater than 120 RON, and greater than 118 (R+M)/2 octane rating.

Is VP Q16 REG leaded?

Yes. Q16 REG is a leaded race fuel. Confirm compatibility with oxygen sensors, catalytic converters, fuel-system components, and racing-class regulations before use.

Does Q16 REG contain MTBE?

Yes. Q16 REG contains MTBE.

Where is Q16 REG unavailable?

Due to state regulations, Q16 REG is not currently available in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or New York.

Is Q16 REG street legal?

Q16 REG is intended for off-road and competition use where permitted. Follow all applicable emissions, fuel, road-use, and racing-series regulations.
